Building your shop works differently depending on the type of shop you need (see Simple shop vs. advanced shop). The following flowchart shows two paths, for both shop types.
Green steps are mandatory; other steps are optional. Read more about the steps related to ticketing in Ticketing.
Regardless of shop type, the first step is always to Configure shop settings. But even before that, you should plan the structure of your shop.
Planning the shop structure
Each shop type is based on a particular data structure. This structure can get very complex, particularly for advanced shops. If you want to build your shop effectively, you should understand and plan its structure.
Simple shop
For a simple shop, the data structure looks like this:

There is just one type of relationship here: the one between a shop and a number of shop items (Something you sell through the shop page in your registration form. In an advanced shop, each shop item contains one or more shop products. In a simple shop, shop items stand on their own, and shop products don't exist). When people use your registration form, the shop page will look like this:

Your shop items are shown in a simple list, on a single page. To plan a simple shop, it's enough to make a list of all the items you need. You can then go through the pages under Simple shop steps in order.
Advanced shop
In an advanced shop, the relationships are more complex:

Compared to the simple shop, there are several important differences:
- There is more than one shop.
- In addition to shop items (Something you sell through the shop page in your registration form. In an advanced shop, each shop item contains one or more shop products. In a simple shop, shop items stand on their own, and shop products don't exist), there are shop groups (A way to group together shop items in an advanced shop. Shop groups appear as tabs on the shop page of the registration form. A single shop group can belong to multiple shops) and shop products (One part of a shop item in an advanced shop. For example, a shop item called "T-shirt promo deal" might contain the shop products "Admission ticket" and "Free t-shirt").
- The structure contains one-to-multiple relationships: one shop group can be linked to multiple shops, and one shop product to multiple shop items.
The shop page also looks different:

The page has several tabs, each of which corresponds to a shop group. The Other tab is an exception: it contains the shop items that don't belong to any shop group.
Note that the shop page only shows your shop items, not shop products. Registrants must rely on your description of each shop item to know what products it contains.
Because the advanced shop is so complex, planning is crucial. As with the simple shop, you should start by making a list of all the items you want to sell. Then, sketch out the structure you want on paper, using the advanced shop structure diagram above as an example. Once you are happy, read the pages under Advanced shop steps in order.
