To make effective use of Visit's cloning feature and keep rework to a minimum, you should use "dynamic fields" as much as possible. Dynamic fields are words, surrounded by hash signs (#
), that represent values within the central database. When you insert a dynamic field in an email or registration form, Visit replaces it with the corresponding database value in the final HTML output.
Examples:
- Personalisation of emails e.g. “
#salutation#
#last_name#
” will display the relevant Dear Mr/Ms and the surname. - Forms displaying the event name e.g. “Welcome to
#event_name#
” will display the correct event name, even after cloning.
Don’t worry about trying to memorise these field names: you can choose them from a list (see List of dynamic fields ). For detailed instructions on inserting dynamic fields, see Dynamic Fields.
